WHAT IS GEOTHERMAL POWER?

The them “geothermal power” originates from the greek „geo“ = earth and „therme“ = heat.

Geothermal heat is energy that is stored deep inside our planet. This heat comes from the extremely hot and liquid nucleus up to surface close regions and is stored e.g. in water.

Geothermal power is known for centuries and is it is used for more than 10,000 years. It is known that the Roman civilisation had public thermal baths. But only now we recognize the enormous potential of this nearly endless source of energy. And only today the industry has started to develop processes for making use of this energy. Today we know, that this energy will theoretically satisfy the demand of energy for the next 30 million years. Geothermal power therefore is classified as renewable energy.
